I have been running for about 20 years and have completed more than 60 marathons (including one in each state) and ultramarathons. In 2011, I ran across MN to raise money for cancer. Now, in 2021, at age 52, I'm going to run and bike across MN to raise money for disabled veterans.

Go!

Those who know me well know I'm great at planning and have difficulty implementing the plan.  What I end up with is usually successful, but sometimes not comfortable...
We had a GREAT start today.  My Dad was waiting at the SD border as a surprise.  That was awesome.

The part of the plan I didn't implement was the break at 11 miles.  We did the whole 22.  Granted, I stopped a lot.  Every couple miles, John refilled my water, provided chapstick and bodyglide, shoe degraveling (as opposed to on Scrubs...), etc.  He also purchased me a root beer float at the Dawson Dairy Queen.  That was the best darn float I've ever had.  I then finished the last 2.5 miles and we went back to the hotel and showered and went to Al's Dairy Freeze where I had naughty food and it was delicious.

Intake for the day:  3 pancakes, 1 GU, 1 stinger gels, 1 root beer float (only the root beer, no float), 1 cheeseburger, 1 small order of chili cheese fries, 1 small butterscotch malt, 1 32 oz gatorade.  Also polished off about 60 oz of water during the run, which would be much higher than usual.  Still thirsty, too.  It's 7PM, so that might be it for the day other than more water...and maybe some chips, I might need salt.

If you'd like to see the data from my GPS, it's available on MapMyRun:
Miles 1-11
Miles 11-22

Tomorrow we WILL implement the plan and do 11 miles in the morning and 11 miles in the late afternoon...
